2017.... I am not sure if you agree, but the year went by so fast! We gained some great people who joined our team and new clients we are grateful for, as well continuing to build further on all the relationships with our current clients. Each one of our employees and clients are what make this business successful and keep us going. Reflecting allows evaluation of where you were and how far you have come. I know with all the new and exciting things that happened here at TJS, this is only the beginning of a lot of great and new things. We are very excited for 2018 and what it has in store for us!
Let's take a look at some of the highlights for TJS:
Charities and Events:
We assisted local veterans at the Veteran Mock Job Fair this past spring. This allowed local veterans practice to prepare for the military job fair. We discussed interview techniques as well as resume preparation. This allows veterans to adequately prepare for interviews and ensure their resume presents them in the most accurate and the best possible light for a job. Veterans deserve to be treated with dignity and respect and this service does just that.
The CHUBB Charity Challenge golf tournament was a great time! Our charity was Kids Voice, a company who provides a voice of hope for our children who otherwise cannot speak for themselves. We are so proud to be affiliated with this charity with all that they do!
This year, we gathered 2 groups of TJS employees and helped at the Veterans Place. We worked together to clean and organize the warehouse where needed items, such as clothing and housewares are stored. And we had a little fun in the process! The team at the Veterans Place are great people who strive to do everything they can to help veterans in need. They are always looking for volunteers and donations, so please look them up and find out how you can get involved!
We sponsored the SPHRO Employment Law Workshop featuring Karen Welton from the Department of Labor Wage & Hour Division. She spoke about FLSA and top mistakes and penalties made by companies, such as misclassification of employees, paying discretionary bonus, and much more. All of the participants were able to get a lot of great information from this workshop.
We participated in a drive to gather much needed supplies for Houston and those affected by Hurricane Harvey. We must give a big shout out to Beemac Trucking for coordinating and supplying the trucks to transport the supplies to Texas.
96.1 Kiss Toys for Tots hosted by Mikey and Big Bob was a tremendous success! Our entire office participated in purchasing new and unwrapped toys and took all items to Robinson to help fill the buses. The drive ended up filling 59 buses total. Great job to everyone who participated in this very worthy cause to ensure children get a great Christmas!

New Services Offered to Clients:
We began offering HR services to our clients this year! For our clients that do not have it in the budget to hire another HR professional, we are available to offer services to our clients and base the fee off only needed aspects. This helps alleviate a lot of stress for our clients.
Also, with building a new website and starting a blog, we want to ensure you, as our clients, friends, or even if we haven't met yet (please feel free to leave a comment and introduce yourself), are getting the information you need and we hope you find the information we supply useful! We will cover many topics ranging across the aspects of insurance we have experts in; employee benefits, property and casualty, personal lines and compliance topics. To make sure you don’t miss a blog article, please sign up for our e-newsletter here and we will send you the list of articles and corresponding links for that month in one email.
We had a great year in 2017 and have been grateful to have you be a part of that! We look forward to what 2018 has in store for our company, our employees, and our clients.
